Frequently asked questions

Where do the decorations appear?

String lights hang right below the menu bar and line up along the Dock. Each theme adds decorations in the screen corners, and pets walk above the Dock. Snow and sparkles, when turned on, fall over the desktop.

Will the decorations block my clicks?

No. Nothing ever blocks your clicks - you can use the menu bar, the Dock and every window as normal underneath.

Which themes are there?

Six: Halloween, Christmas, New Year, Valentine's Day, Easter and Winter. Each changes the bulbs, the corner decorations and the pets, not just the colours.

Does the theme change by itself?

Yes. The theme of the current season is always free and switches by itself as the holidays come. With Premium you can choose any theme at any time of year.

Which bulb shapes and animations are there?

Round bulbs, classic bulbs, icicles, stars, hearts, snowflakes, pumpkins, bats, ghosts, eggs and clovers, animated with Twinkle, Wave, Chase, Pulse, Sparkle or Steady. You can also adjust the brightness, the number of lights and how much the cable sags.

Can I move the lights?

Push them with your mouse and they swing, then settle back.

What do the desktop pets do?

There are 127 of them - reindeer, penguins, black cats, ghosts, puppies, bunnies, dinosaurs, unicorns and more. They walk, crawl, fly or swim above your Dock, take naps, jump around and show a heart when you point at them. Pick your favourites and choose how many there are and how fast they move.

How does the snow work?

Gentle snowfall with adjustable intensity. It drifts away from your pointer as you work, so it never sits on what you are reading.

What is Weather mode?

With Weather mode on, snow appears when it is really snowing where you are. Your location is used only to fetch local weather from Apple WeatherKit, and it is never stored.

How do the lights dance to music?

Music mode listens to the sound around you and makes the lights pulse with it. The audio is analysed on your Mac and never recorded. With Bluetooth headphones connected, the Mac's built-in microphone is used, so your headphones keep full sound quality.

Can decorations turn on and off by themselves?

Yes. Turn on Launch at Login, and set a daily schedule - for example 5 PM to 11 PM - so the decorations only show in the evening.

Which Shortcuts actions are there?

Actions to show or hide decorations, change the theme or let it snow. Use them in the Shortcuts app, in automations or from a keyboard shortcut.

Does it drain my battery?

It is designed not to. Decorations pause automatically when hidden, when your screen is locked or asleep, and while covered by full-screen apps.

Does it work with more than one display?

Yes, it works across multiple displays.

What is free, and what does Premium add?

Free: the seasonal theme with its lights and corner decorations, Dock lights and swinging lights. Premium adds every theme all year, all bulb shapes and light settings, snow, sparkles, all 127 pets, music and weather modes, the schedule and Shortcuts.

Is Premium a subscription?

No. Premium is a one-time purchase.

What data does it collect?

None. No accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking.

Which Mac do I need?

Any Mac running macOS 13 or later.
